Proteomics Core

Summary:

Our Proteomics Core aids investigators and trainees with high performance computation in proteomics, as well as other "omics" type applications needing efficient analysis of large-scale biological data sets. The ability to incorporate proteomics into translational and clinical biomedical research is critical for the discovery of therapeutic interventions and high fidelity biomarkers of disease and response to therapy. The Core provides state-of-the-art services, training, and bioinformatics-driven data analysis to the Meharry translational research community.

Instruments

  • AB Sciex Tempo Nano-1Dplus HPLC ( Instrument )

    a one-dimensional nano HPLC configured with a pump and comes with an AB Sciex 920 Autosampler with cooling module for rapid injection of sample. The system uses Microfluidic Flow Control (MFC) that allows precise operation at pressures up to 5,500 psi and enables automated peak parking for extended MS/MS analysis of analytes of interest. Additionally, the Eksigent NanoLC-1Dplus system comes with a dedicated sample-loading pump that allows sample loading at higher flow rates, up to 30 uL/min, for significant timesavings and flexibility

  • ThermoFinnigan LTQ Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer ( Instrument )

    coupled with a nanospray ionization source and provides MSn dissociation analysis. It is good for protein identification and shotgun proteomics analysis.
